INEST HOMES

Residency & Citizenship

Sometimes real estate changes more than your address. Residency, citizenship and the right to build a life in another country — we examine the options before choosing the property.

Residency & Citizenship

Sometimes buying real estate is about more than square metres. It can become part of a decision about where to live, where your children will study, where to run a business, spend several months each year or perhaps one day stay for good.

But here, the order of decisions matters.

First comes the country and your objective. Then come the current residency or citizenship rules, the requirements for the applicant, the property and the investment amount. Only after that should the search for a specific property begin.

Real estate plays a very different role from one country to another. In some jurisdictions, purchasing a qualifying property may provide a route to a particular status. Elsewhere, ownership may simply support evidence of accommodation or financial circumstances. And in some countries, owning property by itself gives no right of residence at all.

That is why, for us, the phrase “this property qualifies for residency” is never enough. The real question is whether it qualifies for your particular situation under the rules in force at the time of the transaction.

INEST HOMES considers the property together with the client’s legal objective. We examine the programme requirements, the parameters of the property and the structure of the transaction, working with specialised professionals where a formal legal procedure is required.

A passport or residence permit should not be a bonus discovered after the purchase.

If status matters, it should be part of the strategy from the very beginning.
